Backyard tournament for troubled teenagers kicks off in Kyiv

Today in Kyiv an open backyard football tournament among teams formed from children who are registered with the criminal police departments for juvenile affairs kicked off.

The tournament is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the city-hero of Kyiv from the Nazi invaders and organized in the framework of the project “Difficult Teenager” football project.

Organizers of the tournament were the All-Ukrainian National Backyard Football Association, the Criminal Police Department for Children, the KSCA Family, Youth and Sports Administration and the Sport for All Center for Physical Health.

“Today these guys are playing for the cup of Kyiv. They are difficult teenagers, but real men will grow from them. Earlier they were engaged in bad deeds, and today – a healthy way of life,” Kiva said.

“Children need to pay more attention when they commit crimes – this is, first of all, the problem of adults,” he added. “We did not pay attention to them somewhere, and somewhere we did not stop them, and these competitions can distract them and help them get positive,” Kiva said.
