The first stage of the Ukrainian Backyard Football championship held within the framework of the Million for a Stadium project is almost complete. The winner of the tournament was the Molod squad from Poltava. Second and third places were taken by the Kaskad (Kyiv region) and Odesa’s Suvorov district’s squad, respectively.

“Football is peace, football is health, football is friendship. Football is a way of life. We held the first stage of the championship in a rather short period. It was not a marathon, but a sprint race. And today here, in Kyiv, the best teams gathered to determine the winner of the first stage. But whoever wins – all the teams participating in the finals are best of the best. Today there are no losers and will not be. During this period we have become better, stronger, more focused, “Ukraine’s Socialist Party leader and All-Ukrainian National Backyard Football Federation head Ilya Kyva said.

Kyva thanked everyone who is involved in the organization and holding of the championship.

“This tournament was organized by various structures – the All-Ukrainian National Federation of Backyard Football, Football Federation of Ukraine, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Education. Ukraine’s National Police, – it would seem, the supervisory authority, also joined the organization of the championship. Thank you all! We pursued one goal: more smiles on the faces of the children, more joy for children,” Kyva said.

The Molniya squad from Chernihiv region, Sartana from Donetsk region, Severodonetsk squad from Luhansk region, Gymnasium No. 86 from Kharkiv region and Legion 21 from Zhytomyr region all took part. All participants of the tournament received memorable prizes – footballs, as well as certificates of honor. The winners were awarded with medals, and the winner with a cup.

The Ukrainian Backyard Football championship is part of the Million for Stadium project organized by the All-Ukrainian National Football Federation and the Football Federation of Ukraine with the support of the Juvenile Justice Department of Ukraine’s National Police. It involves teams consisting of children (ages 11 to 15). The winning team will receive UAH 1 million for building a stadium in its city.
