The Severodonetsk squad from Luhansk region won in the qualifying tournament of the All-Ukrainian backyard football championship.
Preliminary competitions of the first stage of Ukraine’s backyard football championship within the framework of the Million for a Stadium project are underway among youth teams (ages 11 to 15) have ended. The Severodonetsk squad won the qualifying tournament in Luhansk region.
“Thank you to all the guys who came today to the football championship in Severodonetsk! Your shine in the eyes, joy and desire for victory, like nothing else, stimulates us to organize such tournaments. Ahead is the finale of the first stage. We are waiting for all the winners in Kyiv!” Ukraine’s Socialist Party leader and President of the All-Ukrainian Backyard Football Federation Ilya Kyva said.
Kyva noted the high level of skill of young football players and expressed the hope that one of them in time could grow into true masters of professional football.
“Honestly, I did not even expect such a high level of skill. I’m not just talking about the tournament in Severodonetsk, but also about other regional tournaments. We spent a month and a half in different cities of Ukraine. The final of the first stage will be most interesting. But the main thing is not this. The main thing is that football helps us to grow a healthy, strong generation, which I believe will give Ukrainians many reasons to be proud of our country,” he said.
The Ukrainian Backyard Football championship is part of the Million for Stadium project organized by the All-Ukrainian National Football Federation and the Football Federation of Ukraine with the support of the Juvenile Justice Department of Ukraine’s National Police.
